How to Cook Chicken Thighs in Suvie

Chicken thighs are one of the most forgiving cuts of meat to prepare, as they can handle lots of heat without overcooking. The three best ways to prepare chicken thighs in Suvie is by slow cooking, roasting, or sous viding. Slow cooking and sous viding will require more time to prepare, whereas roasted chicken thighs can be cooked fairly quickly.

How to Sous Vide Chicken Thighs in Suvie

Unlike chicken breasts, chicken thighs should be sous vide at a fairly high temperature to yield juicy and tender chicken. Our preferred temperature is 160°F, but reference the chart below to pick the temperature that’s right for you. We recommend sous viding for 1 to 3 hours depending on your schedule. 1)  Vacuum seal your chicken thighs, place in a Suvie pan, and cover completely with water.

2) Select “Sous Vide” on the display screen.

3) The best temperature to sous vide chicken thighs is between 155°F and 165°F for 1 to 3 hours. Select the time and temperature.

4) Input settings, and cook now or schedule. If cooking from frozen, be sure to select “Yes” when asked if cooking from frozen.

155°F 1-3 hours Very juicy, firm
160°F 1-3 hours Tender and juicy
165°F 1-3 hours Very tender, but less juicy

5) After cooking, pour off water from pans, and remove chicken thighs from vacuum packaging.

6) If using skin-on chicken thighs, pat thighs dry and broil in Suvie or sear in a smoking hot cast iron skillet until browned, if desired.

How to Roast Chicken Thighs in Suvie

Chicken thighs are our go-to for a quick, easy, and delicious dinner. Season chicken thighs with salt and pepper and arrange on a greased Suvie roasting rack set in a Suvie pan. We recommend the following settings:

 – Roast at 375°F for 30 minutes

How to Slow Cook Chicken Thighs in Suvie

When asked to choose our favorite method for cooking chicken thighs, we’d be hard pressed not to select slow cook every time. The low, gentle heat breaks down the connective tissue in the thighs for juicy, tender, and delicious chicken. We recommend slow cooking on low for 1-4 hours for the best results.
