How to Slow Cook Pulled Chicken

When it comes to simplicity nothing beats slow-cooked pulled (or shredded) chicken. Using a few pantry staples and the ubiquitous chicken breast you can whip together pull-apart tender chicken. Normally, shredded chicken is cooked for hours in smoker or over indirect heat, a process that requires constant attention. While this is a great way to spend a warm Saturday, most of us don’t have the time or equipment. Fortunately, though, you can make perfectly tender and tasty pulled chicken using your Suvie or a slow cooker.

Ingredients and Tools

Ingredients

  • 4-6 boneless and skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke (optional)

Tools

  • Suvie or a slow cooker
  • A mixing bowl

Directions

Pat the chicken breasts dry with a paper towel. Remove any skin and trim the excess fat. If the chicken breasts aren’t deboned leave the bone in until after the cooking process. Season generously with salt and pepper.

Add the chicken pieces and coat with the sauce.

Place in the upper right cooking zone.
