Orange Chicken

We’ve replicated one of our favorite takeout meals in this delicious sous vide recipe. Sweet and subtly spiced orange sauce meets juicy chicken breasts, tender broccoli, fluffy white rice, and hearty peppers and onions. Note: This recipe requires Suvie 2.0 and the Suvie Starch Cooker.

Suvie Cook Settings

Bottom Zone: Sous Vide at 155 °F for 30 minutes for 2 servings, 45 minutes for 4 servings

Top Zone: Steam at 250 °F for 30 minutes for 2 servings, 30 minutes for 4 servings 

Starch Cooker Settings 

Set Starch Cooker to Rice mode, select White Rice Firm and set for ½ cup for 2 servings and 1 cup for 4 servings. To prepare the rice without the Suvie Starch Cooker, bring 1 cup water to a boil, add 1/2 cup rice, and cook over low heat for 15 minutes.

Select YES from frozen when preparing a Suvie Meal.

Orange Chicken

Ingredients

  • 10 oz broccoli
  • 6 oz peppers & onions
  • 12 oz chicken breast
  • 6 oz orange sauce
  • 0.125 oz sesame seeds
  • 4 oz jasmine rice

Directions

1) Pour broccoli and peppers & onions into a Suvie pan.

2) Do not open the chicken packages! Place chicken into a Suvie pan and cover completely with water.

3) Do not open the orange sauce packages! Place orange sauce in pan with the chicken.

4) Pour jasmine rice into rice pot (black handles). Add salt to taste. Do not add water! Cover with pot lid, place into your starch cooker and close the door.

5) Load the broccoli and peppers & onions into the top zone of Suvie and chicken and orange sauce into the bottom zone. Input settings and choose Cook Now, Schedule or Refrigerate (please be sure to select “Yes” when asked if cooking from frozen). Follow prompts on both appliances.

Starch Cooker Settings

6) When cook is complete, ​​carefully remove pan (it will be hot!) with chicken from Suvie. Remove chicken from packaging, discard any liquid and pat dry. 

7) Slice chicken into strips and place in a dry Suvie pan. Cut open orange sauce and pour over chicken. Return pan to the bottom zone of your Suvie.

8) Season broccoli and peppers & onions with olive oil, salt and pepper and return pan to the top zone of your Suvie. 

9) Confirm broil times on Suvie screen. Close Suvie door and select “Start Broil.”

10) After the broil, remove rice from starch cooker and fluff with a fork. 

11) Divide rice, broccoli and peppers & onions between plates and top with chicken and orange sauce. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
