Ah, the ongoing debate about toilet paper. Which way do you roll? For some people, the way you replace the toilet paper roll is cut and dried. The end goes over the top; the end comes out from the bottom. If you haven’t stopped to think about your personal preference, you could be struggling to find the end of the roll for 5 or 10 or 20 seconds every time you sit! That’s over an hour of your precious time every year, wasted! Think of all those Facebook posts you could be reading if you always knew where to find the end. This post, my friends, is for you.
If you are still reading this, here’s what I want you to do. The next time you enter a bathroom, sit down and reach for the toilet paper. Now wait. Where is your hand? Did you reach for the top of the roll, or did your hand instictively head for the bottom of the roll? If you’re a top roller, welcome to the club. Personally, I find it much easier to pull the paper from the top. My husband, on the other hand, prefers to reach underneath the roll to find the end. It may take you a few times to pinpoint your prefered paper location.
Once you’ve got that figured out, put that new revelation into action! The next time you replace the roll, find the end and rotate the roll so the end is where you want it to be – coming up over the top, or falling out from the bottom. Now, for as long as that roll lasts, your bathroom days will be calm and Twitter-full.
Of course, if you are one of those unfortunate people whose housemates roll the other way, well, good luck to you. And hope you’re always the one who is left paper-less and must replace the roll. Or, perhaps, just be content to roll with it.
