Our Top Apple Recipes for Autumn

Apples are a versatile fruit that work well in both savory and sweet applications. This round-up includes our favorite apple-focused entrees, as well as desserts and breakfasts that highlight this seasonal star.

1) Warm Chicken, Farro, and Roasted Apple Salad

Show off your salad skills when you make this recipe with vitamin boosting ancient grains, sweet roasted apples, and lean protein-packed chicken. Dress it up with decadent toppings including blue cheese, figs, and pecans.

2) Apple Butter Glazed Pork Chops

Apple Butter Glazed Pork Chops

Cozy up to this fall harvest inspired dinner filled with tart apples, sweet butternut squash, and rich pork chops. We’ve finished our pork chops with slow cooked apple butter using the sugars in the apple butter to create a beautiful deep golden brown caramelization on the meat. And to balance out the dominant sweet and salty flavors, we’ve added a light and fresh lemon arugula salad that comes together in a matter of minutes.

3) Harvest Bowls

Sometimes you need a tasty, hearty meal that’s also super healthy. Harvest bowls are an easy way to make healthy taste great. We layer crunchy kale with soft sweet potato, nutty wild rice, protein-rich chicken breast, bright and tangy apple, crisp almonds and creamy goat cheese. Drizzled with a balsamic vinaigrette this is the flavor profile of your dreams. Move over salads because it’s bowl time and we’re along for the ride.

4) Easy Apple Sauce

Sweet and comforting applesauce is an autumnal treat that can be enjoyed any time of year, but taking advantage of in-season apples will yield extraordinary results. Load all the ingredients into a pan and let Suvie take care of the cooking. Nearly any type of apple will work (although we don’t recommend red delicious). If you like, simmer a cinnamon stick with the apples for a hint of heat or leave it out to enjoy the apples on their own.

5) Apple French Toast

French toast is an iconic breakfast staple, perfect for lazy Sunday mornings. We’ve taken traditional French toast and given it an autumnal vibe by serving it with syrupy slow cooked apples, ideal for spooning over the French toast. Make breakfast a breeze by prepping this the night before and waking up to perfectly cooked French toast, no pots or pans required!

6) Apple and Pear Galette

Galettes are a type of freeform, rustic French-style tart or pie. They’re easy to make using semi-homemade ingredients and very tasty. This galette recipe uses pre-made pie crust filled with brown sugar and cinnamon seasoned slices of apples and pears. If you prefer a more tart tasting galette, feel free to use granny smith, macintosh, or pink lady apples. If you prefer apples on the sweeter side, use fuji or honey crisp. For those seeking the best of both worlds, gala and golden delicious apples sit at around the middle of the sweet-tart spectrum. For the pears, bartlett and anjous are best for baking.

7) Cinnamon Cake with Apple Topping

This fluffy, cinnamon-spiced cake is the perfect place to showcase fresh, in-season apples. We wanted to highlight the crisp freshness of the apples, so instead of cooking them we instead macerate them to keep their texture intact while also developing some juiciness. We spoon the apples over the warm cake and then top it off with a generous dollop of freshly whipped cream for a light, autumnal treat.
