We’re keeping it simple with this delicious steamed asparagus recipe. Whether you want a vegetable to accompany a sous vide protein or simple would like a side of asparagus, this recipe is for you. Note that we tested this recipe with fairly wide spears; thinner asparagus spears may require less steaming time.
Easy Steamed Asparagus

Ingredients
- 1 small bunch asparagus
- 2 lemon wedges
Directions
1) Pour ½ cup water into a Suvie pan and then set a Suvie roasting rack inside the pan. Arrange asparagus spears on top of the rack. Place pan in the top zone of Suvie, input settings and cook now.

Suvie Cook Settings
Bottom Zone: None
Top Zone: Steam for 20 minutes

2) Remove asparagus from Suvie and transfer to a serving platter. Season with salt and pepper to taste and a squeeze of lemon.

Is the steam function enabled for 3.0?
Hi Amanda, yes Suvie 3.0 can steam. Currently steam can be used in the top zone when sous viding in the bottom zone. Our engineering team will be running an update soon so that steam can function independently of the Sous Vide function – it’s in the works!
Why do I set the unused part of the oven to Sous Vide at 120 instead of OFF? Related to that question, can I roast something in the bottom while steaming the asparagus in the upper?
Hi Phil, when this recipe was first written we had a software limitation on Steam mode with Suvie 3.0. This limitation has been rectified, allowing users to steam without sous viding. I’ve updated the recipe to reflect this change. Thanks for letting us know.
