Family Friendly: Chili Cheese Dogs

Chili cheese dogs are a childhood classic. Hot dogs laden with chili and melty American cheese. It’s the perfect comfort dinner. Feel free to use any time of hot dog or sausage in this dish.

Chili Cheese Dogs

Ingredients

  • 15 oz can chili
  • 4 hot dogs
  • 4 hot dog buns
  • ¼ cup butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 slices American or cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons diced red onion

Directions

Place hot dogs in a Suvie pan and chili in another Suvie pan.

Combine melted butter and minced garlic, then brush the inside of the hot dog buns with the mixture. Wrap in aluminum foil and place in sauce pan.

Insert pans into your Suvie, input settings, and cook now or schedule.

Suvie Cook Settings

Bottom Zone: Slow Cook High for 45 minutes

After the cook remove all pans from Suvie. Broil hot dog buns open-faced in the broil for 5-7 minutes until browned (alternatively, you can toast them in a toaster oven).

Place one hot dog in each bun then scoop chili on top of the hot dog.

Tear up American cheese slice and sprinkle on top of chili. Repeat with remaining hot dogs and buns. Broil for 10 minutes or until cheese is melty.

Garnish with diced red onion. 

Note: If you would like to make this recipe in Suvie 1.0, insert pans into the top zones of Suvie, fill reservoir, and set to Slow Cook on High for 45 minutes.

So this was my first cook for the Suvey Kitchen Robot 3.0 – cooked great – next time would skip the garlic butter- it made it taste too weird!
