Rice and beans are a delicious and easy side dish that can accompany nearly any meal. In this recipe, we layer black beans on top of jasmine rice and cook them together in the Suvie starch cooker. Take this dish to entrée territory by serving it with salsa, shredded cheese, and tortilla chips.

Easy Rice and Beans

Ingredients

  • 1 cup jasmine rice
  • 1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • ½ cup salsa (optional)

Directions

1) Place 1 cup jasmine rice and ½ tsp salt in the Suvie rice pot (black handles). Evenly arrange 1 can drained and rinsed black beans on top of the rice and sprinkle with 1 tsp ground cumin. Input settings and cook now.

2) After cooking, stir black beans and rice together and season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve with salsa, chips, or other sides if desired.
