Salted Caramel Apple Cocotte Crumble

This delectable dessert combines the sweet and tangy flavors of apples, caramel, and cinnamon with a crunchy crumble topping. Baked in Suvie’s enamel cocottes, these easy-to-make treats are the perfect single-serving dessert.

Note: reach for baking apples like granny smith.

Salted Caramel Apple Cocotte Crumble

Ingredients

  • 10 oz apples, from 1-2 large apples, peeled and chopped into ½” pieces,
  • ¼ tsp cornstarch
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 tbsp caramel sauce, plus extra to serve
  • ½ cup all purpose flour 
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 tbsp salted butter, cut into 1/2″ cubes
  • 1 tsp flaky sea salt, to serve

Directions

1) In a large bowl, whisk together cornstarch, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Add the chopped apples, tossing to coat in cornstarch.  

2) Spray cocottes with cooking spray. Divide apples between the 4 cocottes and then drizzle 1 tbsp caramel sauce over each serving. 

3)  In the bowl of a food processor, combine flour and brown sugar. Pulse a couple times to combine. Drizzle vanilla and scatter butter over the flour mixture. Process for 30 seconds or until the mixture looks sandy. Transfer to a bowl and use your hands to squeeze the mixture into clumps. Drop clumps of topping over the apples. 

4) Place cocottes in a Suvie pan or on a Suvie roasting pan. Place in the bottom zone of Suvie, uncovered. Input settings and cook now or schedule.

Bottom Zone: Bake at 325° for 35 minutes 

Top Zone: None

5) After baking, remove cocottes from Suvie. Allow to cool for 15 minutes. Drizzle each serving with extra caramel and season with a pinch of flaky sea salt.
